Our Philosophy

At CCPV, we believe strong couples are built on individual integrity, emotional connection, and secure attachment. Competent couples therapy is a highly specialized process—structured, intentional, and grounded in advanced training. It cannot be rushed, condensed into short sessions, or led by generalists without specific expertise in relational work.

While most national couples therapy centers operate on a cash-only basis, we remain committed to accessibility. That’s why we’ve chosen to stay in-network with a limited number of insurance providers to make this level of care available to more people.

Please Note: We are only in-network with Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim, and Tufts. All other clients are welcome to work with us on a self-pay basis

FAQs

Sliding scale due to economic hardship (unemployment, food scarcity) is available upon request.

  • We are currently in-network with:

    • Blue Cross & Blue Shield

    • Harvard Pilgrim

    • Tufts

All other clients are welcome to work with us on a self-pay basis. We are happy to provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement upon request.

  • Fees depend on the level of licensure or experience of the clinician you see but the range is $260 to $200.

  • If we are not in-network with your insurance, your plan may still offer partial reimbursement for sessions. We do not submit claims on your behalf, but we’re happy to provide a superbill for you to submit.

Payment is due at the time of each session.

Reimbursement varies by plan, so we recommend contacting your insurance provider directly for details.

  • You’ll pay out of pocket for sessions. Some managed care plans may allow special out-of-network coverage for family therapy.

Call your insurance provider and ask if they cover out-of-network family therapy. Mention that you're seeking care at a specialized couples center due to limited in-network options.

  • Depending on the level of clinician you see, and the specifics of your plan (co-pay, any deductible), your out-of-pocket costs for 75-minute sessions can range from $160 to $100.

  • No. If we’re in-network with your insurance, it may cover up to 50 minutes using the 90847 code (family therapy with one partner diagnosed). This means one partner must be identified as the primary client with a mental health diagnosis, and the focus of treatment must reflect that.

Any time beyond 50 minutes is not covered and will need to be paid out of pocket. Co-pays and deductibles may also apply.

  • Couples therapy takes more time than a typical 50-minute session. Each partner needs space to be heard, to practice skills together, and to leave the session feeling grounded, not overwhelmed.

Research shows that sessions under 75 minutes can actually be harmful to couples' nervous systems. That’s why the gold standard for evidence-based couples therapy is at least 75 minutes.

Insurance companies typically reimburse for 50-minute individual sessions, but this model doesn't align with what effective couples therapy truly requires.

  • Based upon the explicit assessment of your clinician, shorter sessions may be arranged once therapeutic goals are achieved and couple is in maintenance mode.
